Armed bandits have reportedly stormed several communities in Katsina State, abducting numerous residents during coordinated attacks carried out at night.

Eyewitnesses told Channels Television in a telephone interview on Tuesday that the assaults occurred on Monday night, when heavily armed bandits invaded the affected areas, operating for several hours and unleashing widespread destruction.

Security sources revealed that the attackers initially struck Unguwar Alhaji Barau before moving on to Gidan Dan Mai-gizo and Gidan Hazo communities, all within Na’alma Ward of Malumfashi Local Government Area, Katsina State.

As of the time of reporting, security agencies are yet to issue an official statement, while the number of casualties and abducted persons remains unknown.

Reacting to the development, the spokesperson of the Katsina State Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq, told Channels Television via telephone that he was not yet aware of the incident but promised to make inquiries and provide feedback.

“Please, let me check because I’m just hearing about the attack from you now. I will be back to you, please,” Sadiq said.

Malumfashi is considered one of the flashpoint local government areas in Katsina State, where banditry has continued to escalate despite recent peace agreements between local authorities and armed groups operating in the region.

The latest incident follows the deadly mosque attack that occurred on August 19, 2025, in the same local government area.

During that attack, armed bandits invaded a mosque, opened fire on worshippers, and killed at least 32 people at Unguwar Mantau community in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
