A high-capacity bus was engulfed by fire on Tuesday along the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.
The vehicle was reportedly travelling towards Iyana Oworo when the fire incident occurred near the Adekunle axis of the bridge.
As of the time of filing this report, it remained unclear whether any casualties were recorded.
Channels Television gathered that the incident led to a disruption of traffic flow on the bridge, prompting the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to deploy firefighters to the scene to put out the blaze.
Confirming the development in a statement posted on X, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said emergency efforts were underway to control the situation.
The agency added that its personnel had been deployed to the area to manage traffic and reduce congestion.
“A high-capacity bus is on fire on the Third Mainland Bridge, by Adekunle, inwards Iyana Oworo, affecting traffic,” the statement read.
“Efforts are ongoing to put out the fire, and our officers are on scene managing the traffic situation.”
