Building collapses in Abuja; two dead, 37 Injured

A two-story building collapsed in Garki, Abuja, the Nigerian capital, on Thursday morning, killing two people and injuring 37 others.

According to reports, the incident happened at Lagos Street, Garki Village, in the Garki area of the city.

In a tweet by NTA, it was said that two persons died while 37 others were injured in the early-hour tragedy.

According to reports, the rescue operation was made and the 37 injured persons have so far been moved to the hospital. This information was also shared by Ikharo Attah, a former aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Bello.

In a social media post, Ikharo Attah shared a video of the tragic scene of the building collapse in Abuja. He also confirmed that two people had been killed in the incident.

The authorities had not yet commented on the incident at the time of writing, but eyewitnesses had been sharing their experiences on social media.

This came a week after Nyesom Wike, the new minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), vowed to demolish illegally built structures in Abuja, a two-storey building collapsed.
