The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board urged aspiring pilgrims who had already made a deposit with the board on Saturday to make every effort to complete their Hajj payments by April 21 or risk losing their Hajj ticket.
Alhaji Mohammad Danbatta, the board’s executive secretary, revealed the decision while speaking with reporters in Kano on Saturday.
He declared that the Hajj fee collection will soon end because the pilgrimage was drawing nearer.
The Hajj fare for this year will cost N2.9 million, according to Danbatta, who attributed the hike to the growing dollar exchange rate, an increase in tax revenue from Saudi Arabia, and an increase in airline costs.
Also, he stated that the screening of state-intentioned pilgrims would begin after April 21, when the 44 local government districts of the state would have finished collecting the fee.
