The death of two suspected lovers inside a vehicle on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday has sparked outrage.

According to reports, the lovers died while having sex inside a Toyota Sienna vehicle near the NASFAT area of the expressway’s Mowe-Ibafo axis. The claim, however, was denied by the police.

The bodies of the lovers caused panic on the expressway on Wednesday. This is because many bystanders were seen taking photos and video at the scene of the incident.

After the vehicle remained in the same location for two days, people became suspicious.
A construction helmet was placed on the dashboard of the Toyota Sienna vehicle with the license plate Lagos – LSD 992HH, where the bodies were discovered.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police, confirmed the incident to the media.
He did, however, clarify that the suspected lovers did not die while having sex, as previously reported.

According to him, the man, identified as Akeem, had been reported for assault at the Ilaje Police Division in Lagos State.

“They did not die while having sex,” Oyeyemi explained. The man had earlier been reported at Ilaje police station in Lagos. He was reported for hitting an object on his lover’s head.

“When the lady became unconscious, the man put her in his car and drove off. He reportedly took snipper on their way to Ogun State and they were both found dead around NASFAT. Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the cause of the death.”
