Court adjourns Oduah, CCECC N7.9b fraud trial to Nov 14

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the trial of former Minister of Aviation Stella Oduah and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in an alleged N7.9 billion fraud case to November 14.

The complete trial, which was originally scheduled to commence yesterday, was postponed by the court due to time constraints that prevented the case from being accommodated.

Despite the presence of lawyers representing the Federal Government, who filed a 25-count criminal charge against both defendants, the primary defendant, Oduah, was notably absent. No specific reason for her absence was provided, and it was revealed that the case had been adjourned before the scheduled date.

The attorneys who appeared for the trial were subsequently informed by a court registrar that the proceedings had been rescheduled to take place on November 14.

In a legal case identified as FHC/ABJ/CR/316/2020, the defendants are facing allegations that include conspiracy, money laundering, and the maintenance of undisclosed bank accounts with a commercial bank.
