The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged Nigerians to ignore results circulating on social media as the outcome of its nationwide primary elections.

The party conducted primaries across the country on Saturday to select candidates for various elective positions.

In the hours that followed, several results surfaced on X, claiming that some aspirants, including former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, were unsuccessful in the exercise.

Responding to the reports, Osa Director, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, said only the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) has the authority to announce the official results of the primaries.

“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026,” the statement read.

“The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council (NEC) of our great party. They are solely responsible for announcements of results.”

Director disclosed that Seriake Dickson, the party’s national leader, has convened a NEC meeting to review the outcome of the primaries.

According to him, members of the council are expected to arrive in Abuja on Tuesday for a pre-NEC session, while the main meeting will take place on Wednesday.

He added that the public and party stakeholders would be informed of the final results after the list of successful candidates is submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to the INEC,” the statement added.

The party did not conduct primaries for the FCT senatorial seat and the presidential ticket, leaving Peter Obi as the sole aspirant and eventual presidential candidate.
