The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, has presented a cash reward of N1 million to Master Daniel Osagiobare, an indigene of the state who emerged as the highest-scoring candidate in the South-South region and the fourth-best performer nationwide in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Osagiobare, who scored 368 in the examination, was received by the deputy governor at his office in Benin City on Wednesday. During the meeting, Idahosa praised the student’s outstanding academic performance, describing him as an excellent representative of Edo State.
Addressing the gathering, the deputy governor said Osagiobare’s achievement had brought honour and recognition to the state. He added that the student’s dedication, discipline and excellence reflected the great potential of Edo youths when given the necessary support and opportunities to succeed.
