Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has inaugurated 19 commissioners, alongside several chairmen and members of boards and commissions.

During the ceremony held at the Government House in Benin, the governor issued a firm warning against corruption and any actions that could compromise the integrity of his administration.

In a statement released on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo stressed that all appointments were strictly based on merit. He reminded the new officials that their roles were not political rewards but opportunities to serve the people of Edo State.

“Your nominations are not for patronage but for service,” he declared. “Our administration came into office with a commitment to deliver practical governance that directly improves the lives of our people.”

Okpebholo reaffirmed that his government would prioritise service delivery and measurable results over propaganda. He urged the commissioners and board members to discharge their duties with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of purpose.

“Our focus is on tangible outcomes across every community,” he stated. “Your appointments are not for personal enrichment but for sacrifice and service. This administration has zero tolerance for corruption. We expect discipline, teamwork, and loyalty to the people of Edo State. History will judge us by our deeds, not our words.”

Among those present at the event were Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Chief Lateef Fagbemi, Secretary to the State Government Musa Ikilor, Chief of Staff Alhaji Gani Audu, commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, and other senior officials.
