The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested Archbishop Angel Oyeghe, the founder of Faith Healing Ministry in Warri, Delta State, over alleged naira abuse, conspiracy, and suspected money laundering.

According to a statement posted on its X handle on Wednesday, the EFCC said operatives from its Benin Zonal Directorate took her into custody on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

“The self-acclaimed Archbishop, who is the founder of Faith Healing Ministry, Warri, Delta State, was arrested following a viral video where several individuals under her supervision were seen spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church programme,” the statement read.

The EFCC noted that the act breaches Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which prohibits the mutilation and abuse of the national currency.

The commission added that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other suspects connected to the incident.

Archbishop Oyeghe has already provided “useful statements” to investigators and will face court proceedings once the investigation is completed.

The video, widely circulated on social media and shared by the EFCC, showed individuals, in Oyeghe’s presence, throwing naira notes onto a cow during a church event.

This case follows previous high-profile arrests for naira abuse, including socialite Cubana Chief Priest in April 2024 and cross-dresser Bobrisky earlier the same year, both accused of similar violations at social events.
