Eid-ul-Adha: Nigeria will see peace, stability – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu expressed his belief that Nigerians should maintain trust in God for the attainment of peace, stability, and prosperity in the country.

Following his participation in the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos, he emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration, urging citizens to avoid conflicts based on ethnicity or religion.

The President acknowledged that Allah would not burden the nation with challenges beyond its capacity to handle.

He said, ” Encouraging faith in the nation’s ability to overcome challenges, he stressed the need for Nigerians to come together and contribute to its development.

”I thank Almighty Allah for keeping us in good health till today and pray to Him to grant us robust health and prosperity. May our sacrifices turn to prosperity. We have to make the sacrifices, and that is clear, we have to.

”But Allah will not give you a burden that you cannot carry. He is there for us. We must have faith in the country. Have faith in ourselves, believing that as citizens of this country, we must join hands to build the nation.

”No religious identity, no tribal identity, let us live with one another in joy and prosperity. Nigeria will see peace, stability and God will grant peace to those of us at the war front,” he said.

The Eid prayer, led by Sheikh Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nolah, the Chief Imam of Lagos State, commenced at 9 a.m.

During the prayer, the Chief Imam also performed the traditional slaughtering of a ram, symbolizing the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim to Allah’s command.

Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor of Lagos State, conveyed greetings on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to Muslims across Nigeria and within the state, wishing them joy during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

He emphasized the importance of unity in supporting President Tinubu’s efforts to enhance the nation, and urged everyone to pray for the success of leaders in their respective roles.

The prayer gathering was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President; Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser; Mr. Babatunde Fashola, the former Governor of Lagos State and immediate past Minister of Works and Housing; as well as Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and other government officials.
