Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Wednesday morning for the continuation of his bail application hearing.

The session follows Tuesday’s adjournment by Justice Rilwan Aikawa due to procedural developments between the defence and prosecution. El-Rufai’s lawyers, led by Ubong Akpan, had initially filed a motion requesting the judge step aside over alleged bias but later withdrew it, causing delays.

The prosecution submitted a counter-affidavit opposing bail, limiting the defence’s time to respond, which prompted the hearing’s continuation on Wednesday. Security around the court was heightened by a joint team of policemen and Department of State Services personnel.

El-Rufai faces multiple charges, including alleged fraud, money laundering, and unlawful possession of public funds, filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Authorities continue to monitor the case closely as proceedings unfold.
