Former member of the House of Representatives, Dachung Bagos, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging his support for President Bola Tinubu and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on critical reforms targeted at addressing insecurity and boosting the economy.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Bagos explained that his decision to move to the ruling party was guided by a firm, reform-focused ideology aimed at confronting Plateau State’s security concerns and promoting sustainable economic growth.

“I have formally joined the APC with a clear reform-driven ideology focused on tackling insecurity and strengthening our economy,” Bagos said.

“I remain committed to supporting President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, in advancing state police, local government autonomy, and economic reforms for a secure Plateau and a prosperous Nigeria.”

He stressed that advocating for state police and increased local government autonomy would enhance grassroots security structures and improve service delivery, especially in rural and conflict-affected areas.

Bagos’ move comes amid increasing political realignments in Plateau State, following Governor Mutfwang’s recent defection to the APC, a development widely viewed as altering the state’s political dynamics.

Political analysts note that the alignment of prominent political actors around a common reform agenda indicates renewed momentum for the APC in Plateau State, with security, economic revival, and institutional reforms taking centre stage.

Bagos expressed optimism that united leadership under the APC would fast-track peace-building initiatives, rebuild investor confidence, and enhance living standards across Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
