The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, as public holidays in observance of this year’s Easter festivities.

This was made known in a statement issued on Wednesday by Dr Magdalene Ajani, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

She said the minister extended congratulations to Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora, urging them to reflect on the values associated with the season.

“The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated all Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the joyous occasion of Easter,” the statement read.

“Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance and love as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

“He urged Nigerians to remain committed to the values of tolerance and community that keep us together as a nation.

“He reiterated that the goal of the government remains taking decisions that would bring about national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity. He wished all Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.”

April 3 marks Good Friday, while April 6 is observed as Easter Monday.
