The Federal Government on Thursday produced the detained President, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, in a Federal High Court, Abuja.
Bodejo appeared before Justice Inyang Ekwo under tight security measures.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) noted a significant deployment of security personnel in and around the high-rise building where the court was convened. This came as the court prepared to deliver a ruling on Bodejo’s motion, which sought his unconditional release from the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).
On March 13, Justice Ekwo had scheduled today for ruling on the motion after the Federal Government failed to file charges or arraign Bodejo in court for an alleged terrorism offense.
During the resumed hearing on Friday, Justice Ekwo ruled that the motion had become irrelevant as the prosecution had since filed charges against the Miyetti Allah president. Consequently, the judge ordered the defendant to enter his plea.
According to NAN, Bodejo, who faces a three-count charge, is currently entering his plea.
