The Cross River State Police Command successfully rescued a former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) employee shortly after she was abducted from her home in Calabar on Saturday.

Three individuals were apprehended by the police in connection with the kidnapping. SP Irene Ugbo, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and reported that the Commissioner praised the bravery and valor exhibited by the officers participating in the operation.

She reported that three individuals were apprehended during the operation, and two vehicles were successfully retrieved in the course of the operation.

Ugbo explained that the Cross River State Police Command’s Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS), under the leadership of SP Chukwuma Ogini, promptly responded to a distress call regarding the abduction at Mathias Oje Avenue in the Calabar Municipality Local Government Area of the state.

Ugbo expressed her appreciation for the courage of the Njangachang youths in Akampka Local Government Area for their assistance in capturing the suspects, who were armed with weapons and mystical items.

She reiterated the commitment of Commissioner Gyogon Grimah to eliminate criminal activities and maintain security in the state.

“We still want to state that no kidnapper or criminal will find the state a safe haven for crimes and criminalities again.”

“This is the resolve of the Commissioner as directed by the Inspector-General of Police.”

“No kidnapper will breathe well in Cross River. It’s best they leave now before it is too late,” she said.

Recovered items included the victim’s SUV, an unregistered Toyota Camry seized from the suspects, a pump-action shotgun, and various other mystical or criminal items.
