Former Lagos House of Assembly Speaker, Kinyomi, dies at 82

Abayomi Kinyomi, a former speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, passed away at a private hospital in Lagos State’s Festac district.

According to reports, he passed away at age 82 late on Tuesday following a brief illness.

Kinyomi’s passing was characterized as a huge loss by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.

In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele, on Wednesday, Obasa made the aforementioned declaration and added that the former Speaker would be missed for his efforts to the improvement of Lagos.

After a brief illness, Kinyomi passed away on Tuesday at the age of 82. She was the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly from January 1992 to November 1993.

Obasa encouraged the dead’s immediate family, his friends, and associates to find comfort in the knowledge that one of the reasons they are alive is because of the life of service to humanity that the deceased led.

Obasa said, “Kinyomi lived a good life both privately and in public office in which he served Lagos diligently and passionately. His service and love for Lagos state can never be forgotten.

“We will sorely miss him, his wisdom and contributions to the growth and development of our dear state.

“On behalf of my colleagues at the Lagos State House of Assembly, I pray that Allah, the Most Beneficial, the Most Merciful, grant him eternal rest and give those he left behind the divine strength to carry on.”
