Four farmers killed in fresh attack on Borno community

Four farmers have been killed by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the border community of Kerawa in the Gwoza local government area of Borno State.

The attack occurred on Thursday between 12 and 1 pm while the farmers were working on their fields. This incident follows a series of explosions in Gwoza town nearly two months ago that resulted in over thirty deaths.

Bukar Aji, the Counsellor of Jimini ward, and Yakubu Ali, Chairman of the Kerawa Community Association, confirmed the incident via telephone.

Kerawa is a border town near Cameroon, situated in the Mandara Mountains, where terrorists are known to operate.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Gwoza, when contacted by Channels Television, stated he was unaware of the incident but promised to verify the report.

The DPO suggested that the attack might have occurred in Kerawa, Cameroon, rather than the Nigerian Kerawa, noting a similar attack had occurred in Kerawa, Cameroon, which may have caused confusion.

Gwoza was previously declared the caliphate of the terrorists when captured in 2014, before being recaptured by the Nigerian military.
