Four market’s businesses were affected by the early-morning fire breakout that destroyed the famous Kano Singer market on Tuesday.

Saminu Abdullahi, the State Fire Service’s public relations officer, confirmed it on Tuesday night.

According to him, only four shops were impacted by the fire, in contrast to various reporting on the occurrence.

He claimed that the fire was kept from spreading to other areas of the market by the fire department personnel’s prompt response.

“We received a distress call from the traders that there was a fire outbreak in the market and our men were quickly mobilised to the scene of the incident.

“The quick intervention by our personnel had really saved the situation which would have been disastrous,” he said.

Abdullahi further stated that no one was hurt or lost their life in the incident.

“We thank the Almighty Allah that nobody sustained injury let alone lose a life during the incident.

Abdullahi stated that it would be impossible to estimate the losses suffered by the dealers until after the fire’s damage had been evaluated.
