How Police foiled kidnap attempt, rescued victim in Katsina

The police in Katsina have rescued a kidnap victim, who was shot on the leg by his abductors, Tukur Adamu, 40, at Masaku village, in Kankara Local Council of the state.

Spokesperson for the command, Abubakar Aliyu, in a statement, said the victim would have been whisked away by his abductors but for the timely intervention of police operatives who were on routine patrol in the area.

He said: “On November 4, at about 1:00a.m., during a routine patrol, the command succeeded in thwarting a kidnap attempt and rescued one Tukur Adamu of Masaku village, Kankara Local Council.

“On reaching Masaku village’s outskirts, the command’s operative encountered a distressing kidnapping situation with the victim in a perilous situation.

“Without hesitation, the officers responded promptly and decisively to the situation, effectively neutralising the threat and rescuing the victim.

“The victim, who sustained a gunshot injury to his left thigh, was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention, and is currently responding well to treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, while commending the officers for an exceptional display of gallantry, re-emphasised the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Katsina, and will continue to work diligently to ensure crime was brought to the barest minimum in the state.

“He further urges anyone with useful information related to this incident or any other criminal activity to come forward and assist in the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the state.”
