A Nigerian senator, Ned Nwoko, has claimed that the police once detained some relatives of his wife, Regina Daniels, following an incident she triggered at a hotel in Abuja.
While addressing members of the Kay Hikers Club — a social group for young people — Nwoko relayed a situation in which Daniels contacted him, insisting he step in during a disagreement between the hotel management and another guest.
The senator representing Delta North said Regina had spent four days at the hotel, during which she was involved in continuous “drinking and smoking” alongside her friends and her brother.
According to him, the matter intensified when the actress told him that another guest had slapped her.
As the situation unfolded, he said Daniels reacted by using her vehicles to obstruct the hotel’s two main gates, stopping movement in and out of the compound.
Nwoko said he declined her request to intervene, but the police eventually arrived.
“They took this place for four days. And it was four days of partying for them. It was four days of drinking and smoking and all that goes with it. As a lawyer, I have evidence. I have a level. I have a standard. The fact that they were here between the 9th and the 13th or so, and they had drinks and drugs, was documented. We have written police statements,” he said.
“The fact that they also had fights with the owners of this hotel and guests is also documented. In one of those days, Regina called me to say that she blocked the two gates and that I should call the police commissioner that nobody leaves the hotel. I asked her for what? She told me that her doctors came to see her and somebody’s husband slapped her, and that she did not want anybody to leave or enter the hotel.
“She told me that she used some of her cars to block the entrance of the hotel. She did not do what I asked until the police came. She blocked the gates for over two hours.
“And some of them were arrested – Regina’s brothers and sisters were arrested.”
Tensions between Nwoko and Regina first emerged in October after a viral video showed the actress crying and accusing her husband of domestic violence.
The senator later responded, alleging that his wife was dealing with issues related to drug and alcohol use.
Daniels subsequently acknowledged taking hard drugs but accused Nwoko of playing a role in her addiction as part of what she described as manipulative behavior.
