I’m alive today because God is wonderful – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, attributes his continued existence to the wonder of God, reflecting on a past incident where he narrowly escaped death.

Speaking at the Redemption Camp, situated off the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, Pastor Enoch Adeboye celebrated his 82nd birthday on Saturday, with congregants joining in the festivities.

Adeboye recounted an incident from many years ago that, in his words, could have ended his life if it hadn’t been for a miraculous intervention by God.

He referenced an earlier account provided by his former driver detailing several accidents in which both the cleric and his wife narrowly escaped death while traveling to Ilorin, Kwara State.

Adeboye described one particularly harrowing incident where their vehicle came face to face with a speeding trailer on a narrow path near a bridge, with a river flowing alongside it.

“Somehow we passed,” he said, noting that it was a miracle that they escaped unhurt in the incident, which left both him and his driver shaking.

Adeboye said the escape amazed his driver, that all the way to Ilorin, all he was repeating was ‘wonderful.’

“That I’m alive today is because His name is called wonderful,” he said, and prayed that God would be wonderful in the lives of the people.

Adeboye expressed gratitude to the church members for commemorating his birthday, offering prayers that none of them would experience premature death and that they would surpass his achievements.

He noted that his 82nd birthday coincided with the 38th anniversary of the church’s monthly Special Holy Ghost Service.

Adeboye expressed thanksgiving for the countless lives impacted by the program.

During the event, the cleric delivered a sermon centered around the theme of the Holy Ghost Service: “On Eagles Wings.”

Preaching from Exodus Chapter 19, he said, “When God hears and takes notice of a person, the life of such a person changes for better.

“God can grab you from the lowest point on earth and put you on the throne.”

He emphasized that when someone’s situation seems beyond human aid, God, who is omniscient, will intervene.

The cleric stressed that all God asks for is faith and holiness, promising that He can provide effortless triumph.

He prayed for God to heed the people’s pleas, lift them up on eagle’s wings, and deliver them completely, just as He did for the children of Israel.
