Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially sworn in Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of the state on Tuesday.
Although the ceremony was initially planned for the Coronation Hall at the Government House, it was later shifted to the Africa House within the same premises.
After taking his oath of office, Garo promised to support the Yusuf-led administration fully and contribute to the implementation of its development plans. He also pledged commitment to good governance, unity, and continuity in government policies.
The event was attended by several top government officials and political figures, including former governors Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Ibrahim Shekarau.
The appointment came after the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, resigned on March 27, 2026, following rising political tensions, allegations of misconduct, and impeachment efforts by the state assembly. Gwarzo later joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) but eventually resigned from the party in May 2026.
More updates are expected.
