The governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf, met President Bola Tinubu on Monday to outline his administration’s key priorities, including security, infrastructure development, and enhanced collaboration with the federal government.

In a statement released Tuesday, the governor’s spokesperson, Sunisu Bature, said the closed-door meeting served to formally update the president on major challenges and opportunities facing Kano, with a strong focus on rising insecurity in parts of the state.

“He informed President Tinubu about the recent tragic killing of a housewife and her children, stressing the need for decisive federal support to strengthen security operations and protect innocent citizens,” the statement reads.

“The governor highlighted the role of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in complementing security agencies and called for deeper collaboration with federal security institutions.

“Governor Yusuf also discussed Kano’s development agenda, with special focus on mega infrastructure projects.

“He used the opportunity to thank the President about federal intervention on the Wujuwuju Road describing it as critical step to unlocking economic growth and job creation.”

Bature added that Yusuf sought Tinubu’s backing to accelerate federal projects and ensure Kano gains fully from national programmes and investments.

He noted that Tinubu assured the governor of the federal government’s commitment to partner with Kano State in addressing insecurity and promoting sustainable development.
