The wife of Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Radda, has declared her commitment towards improving girl child education in the state.
The governor’s wife made the declaration on Saturday at the launching of new programmes at Nana Babajo College of Nursing Sciences And Satellite, Malunfashi.
According to her, she will do everything possible to reach every part of the state to sensitise parents to allow their daughters to pursue both western and Islamic education.
She added that the launching of the programmes was geared towards enhancing health care and providing more job opportunities to the people of the state.
“This will help in achieving universal health coverage and help in reducing maternal mortality rate.
“I must say that the administration of my husband, Mallam Dikko Radda, will definitely give the health sector in the state more priority.
“My pet project, SASHIN, is also dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals in our community.”
She noted that SASHIN was committed to promoting a better future by addressing key issues such as maternal mortality, sickle cell disease, cancer, infant and child malnutrition, girl child education and many more.
“I would like to congratulate the management and staff of this College, because this is a clear manifestation of their determination, diligence and hardwork in handling the academic activities.
“On my part as a mother and an advocate for girl child education among others, I will remain committed in ensuring that I reach every part of the state to sensitise parents to allow their daughters to pursue both western and Islamic education.
“I wish to congratulate the pioneer students who have been admitted to study these two new programmes and the parents for this golden opportunity.”
Earlier, the head of the college, Dr Aminu Bello-Abdullahi, commended the governor’s wife for her commitment to girl-child education.
According to him, the new courses are introduced to enhance the health sector across the 34 LGAs in the state.
He further appealed to the state government to provide the college with additional facilities to assist them in discharging their duties.
