Kenyan security operatives have arrested three Nigerian citizens in Mwaliko Estate, Mwea Town, for their alleged role in a cybercrime syndicate.

A report by Kenyan online platform Tuko News stated that the suspects were detained on Wednesday during a joint operation coordinated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The trio — identified as Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwe — were reportedly nabbed after a targeted raid on their apartment, prompted by complaints from residents about suspicious late-night activities in the building.

The DCI, in a statement confirming the arrests, said the operation was part of an ongoing crackdown on cybercrime networks operating within Kirinyaga County.

“A well-coordinated multi-agency raid in Mwaliko Estate within Mwea Town has blown the lid off a suspected cyber fraud ring operated by three Nigerian nationals,” the investigative agency stated.

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects, who claimed they were engaged in an online business, were residing in Kenya without valid documentation and did not possess work permits required by law.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their alleged cybercrime operations and their possible links to other suspects within and outside the country.
