The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, has expelled two students over alleged involvement in “gay practice”.
The university also rusticated four other students for allegedly engaging in fighting on campus.
The disciplinary measures were approved during the 31st sitting of the university’s Senate, held at the Faculty of Law Lecture Theatre.
The decisions followed recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.
In a statement issued by the university’s Department of Public Relations, the institution said the sanctions were imposed in line with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook, Second Edition, as amended in 2025.
The letter, signed by Eli Usman Gbadafu, Deputy Registrar (Academics), listed some of the affected students as Onumoko Hamza, Abdulazeez Lukman Eneji, Favor Akowe, Simbiat Babamuharuna, Zainab Salami Omayoza and Sukura Bukola.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline, order and a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
It warned that it would take decisive disciplinary action against students found guilty of violating its rules and regulations.
“Students are therefore advised to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook and conduct themselves in accordance with the established rules and regulations of the University,” the statement added.
