Labour members gathered at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) headquarters on Thursday to show solidarity with NLC President Joe Ajaero, who has been summoned by the Police Force on allegations of terrorism financing.
By 8 a.m., Labour leaders began arriving at the NLC HQ to rally support for Ajaero and the broader workforce. Videos posted on the NLC’s official X account showed various labour leaders addressing workers who were united in their support for Ajaero.
Channels Television reported that Ajaero was en route to the Force Headquarters to respond to the police invitation.
The labour leaders are expected to lead a peaceful procession to the police facility where Ajaero will be questioned regarding allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.
A heavy police presence has been stationed a few meters from the NLC facility to ensure law and order.

On Wednesday, Emmanuel Ugboaja, the General Secretary of the NLC, informed Channels Television that the Congress had instructed all state chapters and affiliated members to mobilize support for Ajaero.
Ugboaja explained that the directive called for members across the states to organize and participate in peaceful processions to their respective state police commands, where they are to remain until Ajaero’s police interrogation concludes.
The police had invited Ajaero last week for questioning regarding allegations of terrorism financing, treasonable felony, and cybercrime.
