Many trapped as building collapses in Anambra

An unknown number of individuals have become trapped following the collapse of a building under construction near the Ochanja market in Onitsha, Anambra State.

It was reported that the building, intended to become a market upon completion, collapsed at approximately 8 pm on Monday while some workers were still inside.

The incident caused panic in the vicinity as bystanders and residents endeavored to rescue those trapped under the rubble.

As of the time of drafting this report on Tuesday, a source in the vicinity indicated that one fatality was feared, with two others sustaining injuries of varying severity, while rescue efforts continued.

Details regarding the incident remain incomplete.

Additionally, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, could not be reached for verification as he did not respond to inquiries made to his telephone at the time of drafting this report.
