The father of late singer Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to step into the ongoing legal dispute over the paternity of his grandson, Liam, which is being contested through DNA testing.

In February, an Ikorodu magistrate’s court approved three separate DNA tests to be carried out overseas — two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States.

According to Aloba’s lawyer, Oladayo Ogungbe, representatives of both parties, including Aloba and Wunmi, Mohbad’s widow, are expected to supervise the collection of samples. The matter was adjourned until April 7.

Speaking in a recent interview with blogger Adebukola, Aloba expressed anger over the handling of the case, accusing the court of poor management.

He alleged that a welfare officer connected to the matter deliberately chose a fake testing centre and also claimed there was collusion within the Lagos State judiciary.

“I have been calling baba Tinubu. I want to do this DNA and bury my son. It is an untimely death. It should not have been this long,” he said.

“If I bury him, how will samples be taken from his body for the DNA. I am only requesting a DNA. I only need DNA to determine whether I have a grandson.

“I want to plead with the whole world, not only Lagos state. They are supporting a criminal. I pray I do not regret coming to Lagos. Do you know I am returning to Ekiti? I am no longer living in Lagos.”

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, after receiving an injection from an auxiliary nurse. He was buried the following day, but his body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy.

In May 2024, pathologists disclosed that the cause of death could not be determined because of advanced decomposition.

Since then, Aloba has insisted that his son will not be reburied until Liam’s paternity is legally confirmed.

In September, the court granted his application, directing that the DNA test be conducted at a government-approved facility.
