After undergoing a lengthy 12-hour interrogation session with anti-graft operatives on Monday, former minister Sadiya Umar-Farouq returned to her residence on Monday night. She is anticipated to resume proceedings at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja on Tuesday.
The ex-Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development is currently under investigation for an alleged misappropriation of N37.1 billion.
Having arrived at the Jabi Headquarters of the EFCC at approximately 10:18 am on Monday, she complied with the invitation to provide explanations regarding certain matters under investigation by the Commission.
During a lengthy session with EFCC interrogators, the former minister’s Monday proceedings concluded around 10:30 pm, following which she was allowed to return home.
Sadiya is scheduled to revisit the EFCC on Tuesday for further clarification on various issues identified by the Commission during its initial investigations.
In a parallel investigation, Sadiya’s successor, Betta Edu, is also slated to appear at the EFCC office on Tuesday, concerning an ongoing probe into a disbursement scandal.
