A 100-level female student of the Nasarawa State University (NSUK), Keffi, Maikeffi Redemption Sarah, is reported to have taken her own life by ingesting a toxic substance.
Sarah, a 21-year-old undergraduate studying Microbiology, was the fourth and youngest child in her family. She reportedly took her own life, driven by profound emotions and depression.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday evening at an off-campus residence near the Family and Friends Hotel area, opposite Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Her male friend, who shared news of her death on Facebook, verified the distressing event when contacted by our correspondent over the phone.
“We spoke with her Thursday evening and she was to come to Akwanga from Keffi, attend a wedding today Saturday, then go back tomorrow Sunday, just for me to hear of her sudden death” he said.
It was reported that attempts were made by fellow students and neighbors to intervene and rescue her from the tragic situation, employing palm oil as a remedy, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful.
The deceased’s lifeless body has been transported and stored at the mortuary in Keffi.
A relative of the deceased has also announced on Facebook that the burial is scheduled for today, Saturday, in Akwanga, her hometown.
