Chief Ifeanyi Uchendu, the deputy speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, was defeated in the election for the Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency.
Ibe Okwara-Osonwa, the Labour Party candidate, was proclaimed the election’s victor by the Independent National Electoral Commission, and he lost to her.
Okwara-Osonwa received 8,946 votes in total, defeating Chief Dan Okeke, the All Progressives Congress candidate, who received 6,635 votes.
He was proclaimed the winner of the election by Mr. John Osuji, the returning officer.
He added that Okuji Oreh, the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, received 5,211 votes, while Uchendu, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, received 2,763 votes.
