NiMet forecasts three day haze, thunderstorms from Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) says there will be haziness and thunderstorms across the country from Thursday to Saturday.

In its weather forecast released on Wednesday in Abuja, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) indicated that there would be moderate dust haze on Thursday, resulting in visibility ranging from 2km to 5km.

NiMet also anticipated localized visibility of less than 1km across the northern regions throughout the projected three-day period.

Furthermore, NiMet reported that the North Central region would experience a slight dust haze, with patches of clouds expected over areas of Kogi, Benue, and Kwara.

The agency predicted a cloudy atmosphere with intermittent sunshine over inland states.

Additionally, NiMet noted the possibility of isolated thunderstorms occurring in parts of Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Ogun during the afternoon and evening hours.

“On Friday, thick dust haze is anticipated over the northern parts,’’ NiMET added.

It advised the use of face masks where possible, as there would be dust particles in the atmosphere.

“Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning of their operations,’’ it stressed.
