The Niger State Police Command has refuted claims of obstructing trucks transporting food supplies and livestock to the Southern region of Nigeria along the Kara-Jebba-Mokwa Road.

Mr. Waisu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state, issued a statement on Saturday in Minna, denying the allegations.

He clarified that the video circulating on certain social media platforms, suggesting that vehicles and trucks transporting food supplies and livestock were obstructed, is false.

“The Command wishes to state that the video is an old video of about five years ago, and that there was no stoppage or blockage of trucks conveying goods or animals from Minna to Kwara and vice-versa,” he said.

He further highlighted that on February 16th around 9:00 p.m., a Toyota Dyna mini truck with Registration Number BDG 178 XF, transporting cattle to Kwara, encountered a minor accident at the Quarantine checkpoint in Jebba North. This incident led to the transfer of the animals to another vehicle, resulting in a brief traffic congestion. Following the relocation, traffic resumed smoothly.

The police spokesperson stressed that there was no deliberate obstruction by any individual, group, or agency at the Kara-Jebba area of Mokwa, contrary to the implications in the video.

He urged the public to disregard the video, which was an old clip circulated by troublemakers to stir unrest in the state and the nation.

The police spokesperson reassured residents to carry on with their lawful activities without apprehension of harassment or disorder.

He encouraged individuals to promptly report any incidents by contacting the command’s control room at 07031964389 and 08075391601.
