No factions in PDP again after Supreme Court judgement — Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) no longer has parallel leadership structures.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Wike said the supreme court ruling, which nullified the party’s national convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025, has resolved all disputes surrounding its leadership.

The earlier convention had produced Kabiru Turaki as national chairman. However, Wike noted that the apex court upheld the March 29 convention, which produced Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu as national chairman and secretary, respectively.

“Today, the supreme court has brought to an end the so-called factions of the PDP. There is no more faction in the party. There is only one PDP,” he said.

“The supreme court has validated our convention and set aside all claims to any parallel structure. What this means is that the PDP has come to stay as one united party.”

Wike added that the judgement reinforces adherence to due process within party affairs.

“The PDP is stable, united and ready to play its role effectively. What has happened today is a victory for the rule of law and internal democracy,” he said.

He further described the PDP as the country’s leading opposition party and a “credible alternative” to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
