The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adejare Adeboye, on Sunday stated that no one is born by chance, telling media professionals that every person is created with a divine purpose.

He made this statement during a thanksgiving service and special prayer gathering for journalists at the RCCG National Headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos. The event drew hundreds of media practitioners amid ongoing concerns about ethical issues, safety challenges, and financial pressures within the profession.

Addressing the theme “Created for Greater Impacts,” the cleric described each individual as “an actor in a divine script,” emphasizing that God has a specific purpose and timing for every life.

“You didn’t come to this world by accident; you came by the plan of God. What you will become has been settled before the world began,” he said.

Referring to biblical examples, Adeboye cautioned against impatience, explaining that acting outside God’s timing can disrupt one’s destiny. He mentioned Moses, who he said delayed his purpose by acting too soon, and Jesus Christ, who waited years before fully embracing His mission.

“God has a timetable for everything. There is a set time for you to play your part, and you cannot do it before God is ready,” he added.

The cleric also spoke about what he termed “divine alteration,” encouraging journalists to live responsibly and avoid actions that could harm their destiny. He offered prayers for media professionals, asking for divine direction and protection in their duties.

In his contribution, Pastor Oladele Balogun, Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, underscored the vital role of the media in society, noting that journalists inform, analyse, and interpret events for the public.

He urged practitioners to remain objective and continually raise their professional standards, while also calling on employers and the government to provide better support and recognition for journalists’ efforts.

The event concluded with prayers for the Nigerian media, seeking wisdom, protection, and strength as practitioners carry out their duties.
