The Zamfara Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has urged security agencies to carry out a comprehensive inquiry into the passing of Hamisu Danjibga, a journalist affiliated with the Voice of Nigeria.

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by the Secretary of the Council, Ibrahim Ahmad, the union expressed deep sorrow in announcing the passing of Hamisu Danjibga from Voice of Nigeria. His remains were discovered in a soakaway behind his residence, three days after he was reported missing.

“The discovery of his corpse was a result of an unpleasant odour smelt by some Islamiya children in the evening of Wednesday who drew the attention of their teachers.”

“After breaking the soakaway the dead body was confirmed to be that of Danjibga by his family and some neighbours.”

“His funeral rites had since been observed according to Islamic injunctions.”

The union conveyed its sincere condolences to the family, Voice of Nigeria, and the entire community of the state.

Expressing profound distress over the circumstances surrounding Danjibga’s passing, the council implored security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice.
