As part of its continued advocacy for a better Nigeria, the Pan Igbo Socio-cultural organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on insecurity and hardship, noting that the situation still hovering around the country.

The organisation also urged the 36 state governors to support the President in the fight against the menace.

The call was contained in the organisation’s 2025 New year message to Nigerians, signed and made available to Newsmen in Awka, by it National Vice President, Chief Demian Okeke-Ogene.

According to Okeke-Ogene, though the President has done so well in ensuring the availability of premium motor spirit (PMS), for Nigerians to celebrate the yuletide season as we begin this year 2025, I urged the President to focus more on the fight against insecurity, hardship, hunger and other humanitarian challenges bedeviling the country at the moment.

“Nigerians are still living under the covers of insecurity and hardship. The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Tinubu, should help provide a conducive environment where every Nigerian,n, irrespective of political, tribal, ethnic or regionalgional pla, cement, would be given a sense of belonging. It is the high cost of living that has pushed many Nigerians, especially the youth, into crime.

The President should urgently declared a state of emergency on insecurity and hardship across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

We want to however, appreciate the President for ensuring the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC). Our commendation also goes to the executive governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his uncommon transformation policy in the state, particularly, on the youth development programmes.

On the new year celebration, Okeke-Ogene said, “As we revel in the festive air that yuletide brings, I pray that the Almighty God comforts us in our worrying moments, strengthens us where and when we are weak, and lightens our dark havens in Jesus name.

“I also want to express hope and a better life for Nigerians.

‘And again pray that the year 2025 will bring unity and happiness to all Nigerians,” the Ohanaeze VP concluded.
