Oyo kidnap crisis: Kamo State calls off birthday party

Popular Nigerian actor and content creator, Kamo State, has called off his planned birthday party in honour of victims of insecurity, including the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

The entertainer, who will celebrate his birthday on June 14, had earlier announced a fan event, which he said attracted over 6,000 comments.

However, in a video shared on Instagram, Kamo State disclosed that the celebration would no longer take place.

Kamo State said organising a party would be insensitive while families grieve and children and teachers remain missing.

He mentioned that the decision was made out of respect for the current situation in the country and called for voices to be raised on safety issues.

“I said I wanted to celebrate my birthday with a few of my fans and posted it on all social platforms. Since the post, I’ve had 60,000 comments. I am so grateful, y’all are Kamonation. I am here to tell you all that I have postponed my birthday for this year. I am not celebrating it anymore because we can’t have a party at this time. It would be insensitive of me and my team to plan anything at this time. The insecurity, the abducted children and teachers, and all we can do is to lend our voices.

“Safety first. My birthday party is cancelled out of respect for the current situation in the country. Little children and teachers who were abducted haven’t returned home, so there’s nothing to celebrate. KamoNation! June 14”, he said.
