The spokesperson for the State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday. He reported that those injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
He added that the Command, in partnership with the military, state community watch corps, and vigilantes, successfully thwarted the attacks. The swift response of the joint security team, led by the DPO Jibia, forced the attackers to retreat after an intense gun battle lasting over an hour.
In a related message, the PDP called on the Kebbi State Government to halt the use of public resources on what it termed “frivolous foreign trips” that have yielded little benefit for the state. Rather than seeking financial support from countries facing their own economic challenges, the PDP urged the government to invest these resources in creating an environment that attracts sustainable investments within Kebbi State.
The party suggested that funds be directed towards establishing and equipping Free Trade Zones, International Border Markets, and reviving industries at Bulasa Industrial Layout.
Emphasising the need for meaningful and effective local investment, the PDP advised the state government to focus on initiatives that would foster long-term economic growth, stability, and employment opportunities for the people of Kebbi.
