Over one hundred and eighty stalls at the Sokoto State Central Market were on Monday, razed down by a fire outbreak that started in the early hours of the day.
Information collected by our Correspondent indicates that the fire, initially sparked at one of the market’s dumpsites, subsequently engulfed stalls and nearby parked motorcycles.
Mohammed Garba, the Chairman of the motorcycle vendors at the market, lamented the extensive losses incurred, estimating them in billions of naira.
He urged the state government to swiftly assess the damage and provide assistance to affected traders to mitigate the impact of the unfortunate events.
