Photos: NCF launches Waste Management Advocacy campaign, visits, sensitises traders in Ogun markets
In a frantic yet professional approach to reduce threats and health risks posed by dirty environment, the Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF) has launched its Waste Management Advocacy campaign.
The campaign which kicked off in Ijebu North LCDA (Ogun State) in April this year is aimed at enlightening people particularly traders and market women/men on the health hazards of operating in a dirty environment.
Traders in selected six markets – Obada Station I & II, Ojowo Atikori, Awa, Mamu, Oru/Awa, and Ago-Iwoye were sensitized on the relevance of ensuring a clean and healthy environment and were led in a market clean-up exercise
Aside this, the foundation also organised workshop for the Environmental Health Officers in Ijebu North LCDA on July 11th, 2019. The participants were trained on how to ensure Waste Disposal Management and improve Community Engagement for Hygiene.
To cap the campaign, the foundation in partnership with @ACTFoundation_ donated 240L Waste bins for the use of over 1000 market traders in Obada Station I & II, Ojowo Atikori, Awa, Mamu, Oru/Awa, and Ago-Iwoye.
The waste bins were handed over to the Iyaloja and Babaloja, who are in charge of the markets.
