Nigerian Army troops engaged in counter-terrorism operations in Kaduna State executed a bold response to actionable intelligence, resulting in the neutralization of several terrorists and the prevention of violent extremist activities and the abduction of farmers in Giwa Local Government Area.
The operation, aimed at dismantling the terrorists’ stronghold in Basurfe village, situated southwest of Kidandan, was launched following confirmed intelligence indicating the village served as a key administrative base for the terrorists.
Upon approaching the village, the troops encountered an ambush. However, utilizing tactical expertise, they successfully navigated through the ambush, compelling the insurgents to disperse in different directions.
Amidst the intense confrontation, soldiers observed terrorists attempting to flee the area on motorcycles and promptly engaged them, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists. Additionally, the courageous troops seized two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and a motorcycle.
The operation escalated as the troops uncovered the insurgents’ administrative hideout strategically positioned on elevated terrain. With determination, the soldiers launched a fierce assault, successfully dismantling the enclave.
In an official statement, the army highlighted that the dislodgement resulted in the seizure of a Semi-Automatic Pump-action rifle, 16 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), two Baofeng communication radio sets, and a bag containing medical supplies, tobacco, hand gloves, and face masks.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the area had previously served as a medical facility for treating injured terrorists, providing them a place to recuperate and plan further attacks.
The army emphasized that this operation underscores the troops’ unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and restoring peace and stability in Kaduna State and across the nation.
