The Nigeria Police Force, Gombe State Command, has announced a two-day routine shooting range exercise scheduled for April 14 and 15, 2026.
In a public notice released on Sunday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi, stated that the exercise will hold at the Gombe Military Shooting Range in Liji from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.
“The general public is hereby informed that a routine range exercise will be conducted by personnel of the Gombe State Police Command on Tuesday, 14th and Wednesday, 15th April 2026 from 06:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily at the Gombe Military Shooting Range, Liji,” he stated.
Abdullahi appealed to residents, especially those living near the area, not to panic upon hearing gunfire during the exercise.
“Members of the public are advised not to panic at the sound of gunshots during the stated period,” he said.
He also warned against unnecessary movement around the designated location, noting that the restriction is for safety reasons.
“Residents and commuters should avoid unnecessary movement or trespassing around the designated range area. Parents and guardians are also advised to caution their children and wards accordingly,” he added.
The police spokesperson further urged the public to cooperate with security personnel deployed to the area.
“Kindly adhere to all instructions from security personnel deployed around the area. The cooperation and understanding of the public are highly appreciated as we continue to work towards ensuring public safety and security,” Abdullahi said.
