Police apprehend man for stabbing brother to death in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command apprehended Isyaku Babale, aged 30, residing in Anguwan Dawaki, Bauchi Metropolis, on allegations of fatally stabbing his brother.

SP Ahmed Wakil, the spokesperson for the command, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Bauchi.

According to Wakil, the arrest ensued after the Divisional Police Officer of Township Police Station, Bauchi, received a report, prompting detectives from the division to promptly respond to the scene.

“They rushed the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital but he was certified dead by a medical doctor.

“The development prompted the detectives to initiate a manhunt for the suspect, who was apprehended near Kasuwan Shanu area of Bauchi metropolis.

“Preliminary investigations conducted by the detectives revealed that the suspect used a knife and stabbed his elder brother on the March 31, 2024 at about 0400hrs after an argument between them,” he said

Wakil further explained that the dispute arose when the younger brother, identified as the suspect, requested his elder brother, the victim, to refrain from consuming cold patch liquid, commonly referred to as ‘Sholi,’ within their shared living space due to its unpleasant odor.

“Both of them became furious with each other and began fighting. Shortly after mediation, the suspect ran and picked a sharp object, suspected to be a knife, and stabbed the victim in the stomach.

“Further investigations revealed that both men were always fighting using dangerous weapons,” he said.
