Police arrest two over murder in Akwa Ibom

The Nigeria Police Force in Akwa Ibom State has arrested two suspects in connection with a suspected murder case in the state.

Police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, said the arrests followed credible intelligence provided by members of the public. She disclosed that operatives stormed a location in Iko Udo Obobo Village where a victim was found burnt beyond recognition inside a room.

“Through sustained intelligence-led operations and meticulous investigative efforts, two suspects have been apprehended in connection with this heinous crime.

“The suspects are currently in custody, and are providing useful information to aid the ongoing investigations,” John said.

She added that the Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.

Describing the case as culpable homicide, the police assured that all those involved would be identified and prosecuted.

“The command will continue to act decisively against all forms of criminality. The state can’t be a safe place for criminals,” she said.

The police also urged residents to stay alert and report suspicious activities, reiterating their commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
