Police in Ekiti have confirmed the rescue of the vice-chairman of Ilejemeje Local Government Area, Mrs Grace Ogunleye, who was abducted on Wednesday while returning home.
The confirmation was contained in a statement released on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu.
Abutu said the victim regained her freedom after a joint rescue operation carried out by the police, military, other security agencies, and local security personnel.
According to him, continuous pressure mounted on the suspected kidnappers by the security team led to her successful rescue.
He also disclosed that the state commissioner of police, Falade Adegoroye, had directed a full investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the abduction and ensure those responsible are arrested.
