The Nigeria Police Council has officially confirmed Kayode Egbetokun as the full-fledged Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State made this announcement following a meeting of the Police Council held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
Governor Mohammed also revealed that President Bola Tinubu, who presided over the police council meeting, played a role in addressing the political and security developments in Rivers State related to the proposed impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Tinubu had, on Monday, June 19, 2023, designated Egbetokun as the new IGP, replacing Usman Baba, who had been appointed as the IGP by former President Muhammadu Buhari on April 6, 2021.
Born on September 4, 1964, in the Egbado South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Egbetokun began his journey with the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP (Course 16) on March 3, 1990. According to police regulations, he will reach 35 years of service by September 2024.
