Security operatives were involved in a gun war with a gang of armed guys who were allegedly part of a cult for nearly an hour.

It was learned that the incident took place late on Saturday in the Aguleri community of Anambra State’s Anambra East Local Government Area.

Chief Willie Obiano, the state’s immediate past Governor, was born and raised in Aguleri.

According to reports, the armed guys attacked the neighborhood and opened fire before police officers arrived and the shooting continued between both sides.

Although the cause of the invasion could not be determined, local sources claimed that the youngsters were on their way to a local police station when they were repulsed by police officers.

Although no one was killed, sources claim that some police officers and armed gang members were hurt during the shootings.

According to police sources, no less than 15 individuals have so far been detained and placed under arrest.

Toochukwu Ikenga, a spokesman for the state police, confirmed the event and stated that it had been resolved.
